Receding waters along the Rhine have unboxed World War II munitions in Koblenz and deepened drought concerns across Hesse, as demolition work continues on Bonn's Nordbrücke bridge.

Low water levels across the Rhine region continue to impact local communities and unearth historical hazards. In Koblenz, receding Rhine waters exposed a World War II Bazooka rocket, which authorities confirmed posed no immediate danger to the public. Meanwhile, environmental officials in Hesse report historically low groundwater levels, prompting municipal authorities to scale back irrigation in public parks due to ecological and logistical constraints.

Concurrently, structural interventions are ongoing in Bonn, where emergency crews commenced the partial demolition of the western access ramp to the damaged Nordbrücke bridge. The operations, scheduled to run through Monday, continue to cause traffic disruptions along crucial transit routes across the Rhine following the crossing's closure in June.
