Dropping water levels along the Rhine have uncovered a World War II rocket in Koblenz, while Hesse reports historically low groundwater levels and park irrigation cuts.

Receding water levels along the Rhine River continue to uncover historical hazards while compounding environmental challenges in western Germany. In Koblenz, dropping water levels revealed a World War II Bazooka rocket along the riverbank, which local authorities confirmed posed no immediate public threat.

Meanwhile, environmental monitoring in Hesse indicates that groundwater reserves in many areas have fallen to historically low levels. Although officials state the shortage does not yet constitute an emergency, drought conditions are forcing regional municipalities to limit public park irrigation. Officials noted that widespread watering is no longer viable, with a spokesperson for Kassel explaining that "a comprehensive irrigation is neither staff-feasible nor ecologically justifiable."
