Indian youth movement ends protests as government accepts demands after minister's resignation

Indian student protesters ended nationwide demonstrations after Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government agreed to meet all key demands following the education minister's resignation.
Following the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Saturday, student organizers in India announced an end to nationwide demonstrations after reaching a settlement with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's administration.
Representatives of the student movement stated that government officials agreed to satisfy all of their key demands. Alongside Pradhan's resignation over widespread medical entrance exam paper leaks that impacted more than two million applicants, the agreement includes financial compensation for the families of students who died by suicide following the scandal. Additionally, authorities agreed to drop legal proceedings and avoid prosecuting participating demonstrators.
Pradhan had submitted his resignation stating, "I have great respect for the legitimate expectations of the youth of this country."
