Finnish satellite operator ICEYE and Nokia have partnered to develop sovereign, low Earth orbit communication networks for military and border security operations.

Finnish radar satellite provider ICEYE and telecommunications giant Nokia have announced a partnership to develop secure satellite communication systems for military and governmental applications.

The collaboration will focus on building high-performance broadband systems in low Earth orbit. These sovereign satellite networks are designed to support critical national security operations, including border protection and defense missions, by delivering resilient connectivity in challenging environments. By combining ICEYE’s space-based radar expertise with Nokia’s network infrastructure capabilities, the companies aim to enhance European tactical communication technology for government defense requirements.
