Hungary has retrieved €5.7 million from a Mészáros-linked fund while expanding its investigation into historical toll system contracts.

Hungarian Transport and Investment Minister Dávid Vitézy announced that the state has recovered 2.27 billion forints (€5.7 million) from a private equity fund connected to businessman Lőrinc Mészáros. The repayment follows a government review of 64.5 billion forints in toll infrastructure acquisitions executed under former minister János Lázár.

Building on these recovery efforts, state authorities are also examining past procurement contracts awarded to IT entrepreneur Gábor Emőri. Emőri spent 12 years developing and operating core elements of Hungary's national electronic toll system. Government officials are reviewing those historical agreements to evaluate whether additional public funds can be retrieved.
