Hungarian authorities recovered 2.27 billion forints from a toll deal linked to Lőrinc Mészáros and are now auditing contracts with IT entrepreneur Gábor Emőri.

Hungarian Transport Minister Dávid Vitézy announced that a private equity fund linked to businessman Lőrinc Mészáros has reimbursed 2.27 billion forints to the state treasury. The repayment follows an official review of a 64.5 billion forint deal authorized under former minister János Lázár, in which the government acquired three electronic toll management entities.

Following the recovery of these assets, Hungarian authorities have expanded their scrutiny to examine historical procurement contracts awarded to IT entrepreneur Gábor Emőri. Emőri spent over a decade developing and managing the country's national electronic toll network, becoming a major beneficiary of state technology contracts. Investigators are auditing those prior agreements to evaluate whether additional public funds can be reclaimed.
