Houthi forces have seized strategic positions near the Bab al-Mandab Strait, threatening Red Sea trade as Saudi Arabia faces dwindling support from allies.

Iran-backed Houthi rebels have expanded control over key coastal positions along the Bab al-Mandab Strait, including the island of Perim and the towns of Dhubab and Mokha. The territorial gains threaten global shipping lanes and energy transport through the Red Sea.

Concurrently, drone strikes by allied Iraqi groups forced the shutdown of Saudi Arabia's East-West pipeline, driving Saudi crude exports to multi-decade lows. In response, Saudi forces launched airstrikes targeting Mokha airport.

Despite the escalating threat, Western powers, including the United States, remain reluctant to commit to a broader military conflict. Facing depleted interceptor missile stockpiles and limited direct coalition support, Riyadh faces growing strategic isolation as regional tensions mount.
