A Greek-operated Patriot air defense system stationed in Saudi Arabia intercepted two ballistic missiles targeting oil infrastructure in the western port city of Yanbu, security sources confirmed. The projectiles, launched from Yemen, were shot down by Greek military personnel managing the surface-to-air missile battery. Saudi Arabia’s Civil Defense Authority subsequently issued warnings to local residents regarding potential hazards following the aerial engagement. Greece deployed the Patriot system and associated personnel to the kingdom under a bilateral agreement to bolster protection around critical energy facilities against long-range missile and drone threats.
