German prosecutors have concluded a reinvestigation into the 1970 arson attack on a Munich Jewish retirement home, pointing to deceased neo-Nazi Bernd V.

German prosecutors in Munich have concluded a renewed investigation into the 1970 arson attack on a Jewish retirement home, determining that evidence strongly points to a deceased far-right extremist. The fire killed seven residents and injured 15 others in one of post-war Germany's most prominent antisemitic crimes.

According to the Munich General Public Prosecutor's Office, newly evaluated material substantiated long-standing suspicions against Bernd V., a neo-Nazi who died in 2020. Although authorities had identified him early in the original probe, formal judicial proceedings and charges remain impossible due to his death. Prosecutors noted that while the gathered evidence "strongly speaks to his guilt," the case cannot be formally resolved in court.
