French emergency services have stabilized several wildfires across southern France, though high-risk conditions persist in areas like Puilaurens and Var.

French emergency services have stabilized several wildfires across southern France, though high-risk conditions persist. In the Aude department, a blaze near Montséret that burned 100 hectares was stabilized following a rapid aerial and ground response. However, a 225-hectare fire near Puilaurens remains active due to steep, inaccessible terrain.

Blazes in the Var region have been extinguished, while fires in Drôme and Gironde have halted their advance. To prevent further outbreaks, authorities in Var prohibited public access to seven forest massifs due to extreme fire risks.

Official estimates indicate that wildfires have consumed 115,000 hectares across France this year. Armed Forces Minister Sébastien Lecornu announced he will visit Gironde on 17 August to coordinate reconstruction in fire-damaged areas.
