EU extends sanctions on Russia following border train attack
The European Union extended sanctions on Russia following a border train attack, as fighting continues and U.S. President Donald Trump claims a deal on energy strikes.
The European Union has renewed sanctions against Moscow following a Russian missile strike on a train near the Ukrainian-Polish border. EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas and French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot condemned the attack, framing it as an attempt to intimidate European nations.
Meanwhile, hostilities persist across multiple fronts. Ukrainian officials reported two fatalities and 14 injuries from shelling in the Kherson region. Conversely, Russian authorities stated that Ukrainian drone strikes injured seven people in the Belgorod and Sochi regions.
On the diplomatic front, U.S. President Donald Trump claimed that both Moscow and Kyiv agreed to cease strikes against energy infrastructure. In Kyiv, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed an official decree removing the nation's prosecutor general from office.
