Former Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov has urged Ukraine to prepare electoral frameworks for post-war voting despite ongoing martial law.

Former Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov has called on Kyiv to begin establishing the administrative infrastructure required for post-war elections. Fedorov, who was removed from his post by President Volodymyr Zelensky in July, argued that early logistical planning is essential to ensure millions of displaced citizens, refugees residing abroad, and active military personnel can participate once hostilities end.

Under Ukrainian legislation, national elections are prohibited while martial law remains in force, and President Zelensky has maintained that military defense remains the state's main focus. However, Fedorov warned that postponing technical preparations until the end of martial law could significantly delay democratic procedures following the conflict. The presidential office has not signaled any intention to revise current election restrictions during ongoing military operations.
