Former Moldovan lawmaker Alexandr Trubca has rejected bribery allegations involving €200,000 linked to legislative amendments in the scrap metal industry.

Former Moldovan parliament member Alexandr Trubca, previously representing the ruling Action and Solidarity Party (PAS), faces allegations of accepting a €200,000 bribe to advance favorable legislative amendments for a scrap metal business.

According to an investigation by Ziarul de Gardă, a former business partner of entrepreneur Valentin Eșanu submitted a criminal complaint to prosecutors, alleging payments were made to alter tax regulations governing the metal waste sector. The proposed changes reportedly aimed to revise value-added tax rules and modify income tax mechanisms for scrap collection companies.

Trubca strongly rejected the accusations, asserting that "I have never received money from anyone," and threatened legal action for defamation. The investigation also detailed wider market struggles, noting that state-owned enterprise Metalferos has posted four consecutive years of financial losses following market demonopolisation.
