Emergency services in France's Var department made progress against renewed wildfires on Saturday, completing 450 aerial water drops to stabilize the area.

On Saturday, emergency services made significant progress in controlling renewed wildfires across the Var department in southeastern France. Speaking from Carcès following a fresh outbreak of blazes, Var Prefect Simon Babre announced that aerial firefighting resources executed 450 water drops throughout the day.

Babre commended the emergency personnel deployed to the region, describing their operational response as a major accomplishment under challenging conditions. Although officials confirmed that crews successfully halted the immediate spread of the fires during Saturday's operations, authorities warned that the situation remains active. Babre noted that while one battle was "won" on Saturday, "the combat continues" as teams remain on high alert to prevent further flare-ups.
