The International Chess Federation has selected Geneva to host the upcoming World Chess Championship match at the end of this year.

The International Chess Federation (FIDE) has announced that Geneva will host the next World Chess Championship match scheduled for late this year. The Swiss city was selected over alternative potential host locations, including Samarkand.

The upcoming contest is expected to feature 20-year-olds Gukesh Dommaraju and Javohir Sindarov, setting a record as the youngest world championship match in the sport's history. Holding the tournament in Western Europe offers improved European accessibility for international fans and observers compared to other shortlisted venues in Central Asia.
