European nations face relentless summer heatwaves, with record temperatures, red alerts in Italy, and thousands of excess deaths reported in France.

Extreme weather continues across Europe as multiple countries face prolonged high temperatures, elevated fire risks, and worsening health impacts.

In Italy, health authorities extended red weather alerts to all 27 major cities during the nation's fourth heatwave of the year. Officials advised residents to avoid direct sunlight between 11:00 and 18:00 as temperatures threatened to reach 40 degrees Celsius.

Record-breaking conditions were also registered elsewhere. Austria logged an all-time national high of 40.8 degrees Celsius near Vienna. Meanwhile, French health authorities reported over 7,300 excess deaths from May through July, linked to 52 heatwave days recorded since mid-June. Meteorologists warn that high temperatures, drought, and wildfire threats will persist across Western Europe, with parts of the United Kingdom and France preparing for heat approaching 40 degrees Celsius.
