EU schedules emergency talks on Ceuta crisis amid diplomatic fallout

EU interior ministers will convene on Tuesday to address the Ceuta migrant crisis amid diplomatic tensions and claims of Russian digital interference.
European Union interior ministers will hold emergency talks on Tuesday after 22 member states demanded stronger external border controls following the arrival of around 60,000 migrants in the Spanish enclave of Ceuta.
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez expressed anger over the response from European partners, condemning hardline calls to alter open-border rules as "selfish, polarising and unlawful." The friction leaves Madrid increasingly isolated as right-wing political stances gain influence across the bloc. Domestically, the crisis has fueled disagreements between Spain's Interior and Defense ministries over cabinet policy and relations with Morocco.
Additionally, European Union officials warned that Russian digital networks are exploiting the situation through hybrid warfare tactics to deepen political divisions across Europe. The official death toll from the border crossings stands at 67.
