The estimated minimum cost to build Dublin's MetroLink airport rail connection has more than doubled since 2022, reaching up to €17.5 billion.

The projected minimum cost to construct MetroLink, a major rail line connecting Dublin's city centre to Dublin Airport, has more than doubled over the past four years.

Updated figures indicate the transport infrastructure project is now estimated to cost between €14.4 billion and €17.5 billion. By comparison, official projections in 2022 estimated the total expenditure would fall between €7.16 billion and €12.25 billion.

The transit network is anticipated to become operational by the early 2030s, providing a high-capacity link between central Dublin and the country's busiest international airport.
