Croatian government advances US tax treaty and OECD reforms

Croatia's cabinet approved a US double taxation treaty, state enterprise reforms for OECD accession, and €125.7 million for hospital debts.
The Croatian government approved several key measures during its Thursday session. Ministers forwarded a convention and protocol on avoiding double taxation with the United States to parliament for ratification, aimed at boosting bilateral economic cooperation. Additionally, the cabinet adopted three bylaws to reform the management of state-owned enterprises, focusing on selection and appointment procedures for management and supervisory boards. This step fulfills key requirements for completing Croatia's accession negotiations with the OECD. To address mounting fiscal pressures in healthcare, the government also authorized 125.7 million euros to settle outstanding debts owed by hospitals, aiming to maintain continuous medical supplies and healthcare standards across the country.
