Belgian authorities have arrested a Canadian intern at NATO's military headquarters on charges of spying for Moscow.

Belgian special services have arrested a Canadian intern stationed at NATO's Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) on suspicion of spying for Moscow. The arrest occurred in Brussels on the same day a Russian drone was downed over Romanian airspace.

Following the detention, Belgian authorities placed the suspect under formal arrest while investigations proceed into potential security compromises. The case underscores persistent security challenges for Belgian intelligence as Brussels remains a primary hub for foreign espionage, hosting major military and diplomatic headquarters for both NATO and the European Union.
