Global armed forces and defense innovators are expanding the use of artificial intelligence, autonomous robotics, and satellite networks on modern battlefields.

Militaries and defense innovators are accelerating the deployment of artificial intelligence and automated hardware on modern battlefields.

In Ukraine, former defense minister Mykhailo Fedorov emphasized that confronting Russian forces requires mastering continuous innovation cycles in drone engineering and autonomous robotics. Frontier technologists, including former Google executive Eric Schmidt, have noted that autonomous drones mark a historic transformation in military tactics. Meanwhile, operational limitations persist, including SpaceX restrictions barring Ukraine from deploying Starlink satellite connectivity for long-range offensive strikes into Russian territory.

Ukrainian military intelligence also reported finding American microprocessors with AI processing capabilities inside recovered Russian missiles. Concurrently, China's People's Liberation Army is adopting AI-driven systems capable of coordinating and planning large-scale, synchronized aerial bombardments.
