Around 80 people reported under Sweden's new residency information law

Sweden's new information-sharing obligation resulted in roughly 80 reports of suspected undocumented residents during its first three weeks.
Swedish public authorities have reported approximately 80 individuals to the police under a new information-sharing requirement during its first three weeks in effect. According to figures from the National Border Police Unit reported by local media, the majority of these notifications originated from the Swedish Public Employment Service.
The regulation obliges state entities to notify law enforcement whenever there is reason to assume an individual lacks the legal right to reside in the country. The measure aims to strengthen immigration control by requiring public officials to flag suspected undocumented residents to border enforcement agencies.
