Albanian student protests intensify as demonstrators clash with police in Tirana

Anti-government student protests in Tirana escalated as demonstrators clashed with police, damaged government buildings, and called for the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama.
Anti-government demonstrations in Albania escalated as thousands of student protesters clashed with police officers in Tirana. Demonstrators targeted official sites, throwing stones and eggs at the Ministry of Education before setting fire to parts of the building and two nearby bank branches.
Law enforcement deployed tear gas and water cannons to disperse crowds that had overturned rubbish bins and damaged business storefronts across the capital. The student-led rallies form part of wider civic unrest lasting over 100 days, demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama, alongside lower education costs, anti-corruption reforms, and better employment prospects.
