Von der Leyen warns against attacks on EU soil as Russian raids hit Kyiv

Russian forces launched fresh drone attacks against Kyiv, injuring a resident and damaging infrastructure following Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's address at the UN General Assembly. Moscow's Defence Ministry confirmed a campaign targeting Ukraine's energy network. In response, Ukrainian strikes hit petroleum facilities inside Russia, forcing Moscow to import foreign fuel.

Concurrently, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen declared that the bloc is "ready to respond" to hostile actions on European soil. Her statement followed explosive drone incidents in Leipzig, Germany, where investigators identified two suspects linked to Moscow.
