US plans London summit to reopen Strait of Hormuz amid rising Gulf tensions

The US prepares a London summit to address the Strait of Hormuz blockade after Tehran rejected a truce, as Gulf tensions escalate.
Preparations are underway for a London summit involving the United States, the United Kingdom, and regional allies to reopen the Strait of Hormuz after Tehran rejected a truce. With oil prices reaching $100 a barrel, US President Donald Trump is evaluating further military escalation while keeping channels open for dialogue.
Tensions continue to spread across the region. Houthi strikes targeted Saudi Arabia, suspending flights in Riyadh and Jeddah and prompting Kuwait and Bahrain to deploy fighter jets. Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported targeting vessels in the Caspian Sea conveying weapons to Iran. On the diplomatic front, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio met Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Manila, where Moscow urged Washington to halt military assistance to Kyiv.
