US prosecutors charged five alleged Russian operatives over assassination plots, while Denmark warned of Russian sabotage targeting defense contractors.
United States federal prosecutors and Danish security officials have outlined an expanding Russian intelligence campaign involving sabotage and targeted killings directed at Western supporters of Ukraine.
An unsealed indictment from Manhattan federal court charges five alleged Russian intelligence operatives with recruiting a global network to surveil and execute attacks against individuals aligned with Kyiv. According to federal authorities, the network orchestrated a June 2024 assault in Prague and planned additional operations across Europe and the United States. All five suspects remain at large.
Simultaneously, Denmark's Security and Intelligence Service reported that Russian operatives carried out targeted sabotage against Danish defense contractors supplying military equipment to Ukraine. Danish officials characterized the incidents as an escalation in Moscow's hybrid warfare strategy designed to undermine Western assistance. Russian authorities have not publicly responded to the allegations.
