US charges five alleged Russian agents over global plot to target Ukraine allies
The US has charged five alleged Russian agents over plots targeting Ukraine allies, while Denmark reported Russian sabotage against defense suppliers.
Unsealed federal court documents in Manhattan show the United States Department of Justice has charged five alleged Russian intelligence operatives for managing a global assassination and sabotage network. Prosecutors state the Kremlin-backed group paid operatives to track and attack individuals "aligned, or perceived to be aligned, with Ukraine" across Europe and North America.
The suspects, who remain at large, are linked to various plot lines, including a June 2024 attack in Prague. Meanwhile, Denmark’s Security and Intelligence Service revealed that Russian actors targeted Danish defense suppliers assisting Kyiv with physical sabotage, characterizing the actions as a major escalation in hybrid tactics.
