Ukrainian forces advance near Kupiansk as conflicting claims persist along front lines

Ukrainian troops advance north of Kupiansk and near Lyman, while Russian forces claim gains near Sumy and deny Ukrainian breakthroughs in Zaporizhzhia.
Ukrainian forces have made operational gains along the right bank of the Oskil River north of Kupiansk, with officials expecting to confirm the recapture of up to 200 square kilometres near Lyman. Meanwhile, the Russian Ministry of Defence claimed its troops captured several settlements approaching the northeastern city of Sumy.
In the southern Zaporizhzhia sector, Russian Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov denied reports of recent Ukrainian battlefield breakthroughs. Additionally, overnight Russian military strikes hit ammunition depot facilities in the Kyiv region as both sides continue to issue contrasting reports regarding control across active front-line sectors.
