Zelensky met with NATO's chief over air defence shortages, while Ukraine prepares for further EU accession talks supported by €1.4B in frozen Russian asset yields.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held discussions with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte to address critical shortages of air defence interceptor missiles. Zelensky stated that deliveries of crucial interceptor systems have dropped to one-third of 2025 levels, leaving defence capabilities severely strained as Russian forces continue frequent missile and drone strikes against Kyiv and strategic southern ports.

Despite ongoing security challenges, Kyiv is pressing forward with European integration, claiming all required criteria have been fulfilled to open four additional negotiation cluster groups for European Union membership. To support Ukraine's stability, the EU released a fifth financial tranche of 1.4 billion euros generated from interest on frozen Russian central bank assets.
