Ukraine targets Russian aerospace facilities in Samara amid heavy eastern fighting

Ukrainian long-range strikes hit major industrial sites in Russia's Samara region, including facilities tied to missile production and military aircraft repair. Satellite imagery and regional reports confirmed damage at the Progress Rocket Space Centre and the adjacent Aviakor plant following aerial attacks on August 15. Explosions and drone activity were also reported across the Nizhny Novgorod, Penza, and Rostov regions.

Concurrently, intense ground combat persisted along the eastern front line. Ukraine's General Staff reported 254 engagements in a single day, with heavy Russian offensive activity concentrated in the Lyman and Kostiantynivka sectors. Russian forces sought to divide Ukrainian positions near Kupiansk while expanding control south of Dobropillia.
