Coordinated Russian strikes killed at least 13 across Ukraine, while Kyiv retaliated with drone strikes toward Moscow as parliament prepares to vote on a new defense minister.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported that a coordinated Russian assault using drones, ballistic missiles, and cruise missiles targeted multiple regions, leaving at least 13 people dead and 40 injured. Fatalities included ten in the Kharkiv region and one in Zaporizhzhia, alongside damage in Kyiv, Odesa, and Chernihiv. Ukraine retaliated by launching drones toward Moscow, several of which were intercepted.

Domestically, Ukraine’s parliament is scheduled to vote on confirming Yevhenii Khmara as the country's new defense minister. The vote follows the dismissal of former Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, who has publicly advocated for creating legal mechanisms to hold elections during wartime, asserting that "democracy cannot be held hostage by Russia." Fedorov's call coincides with ongoing anti-corruption investigations involving figures associated with the presidency.
