Ukraine faces a steep decline in air defense deliveries while meeting EU accession benchmarks and receiving €1.4 billion from frozen Russian assets.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that international deliveries of vital air defense interceptor missiles have dropped to one-third of 2025 levels. The shortfall comes as Russia escalates missile and drone attacks against Kyiv and southern maritime infrastructure. To address the shortage, Zelensky consulted with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte regarding acquiring additional interceptor systems, emphasizing that shortages extend beyond seasonal fluctuations.

Concurrently, Zelensky announced that Ukraine has fulfilled all necessary technical requirements to open four additional negotiating clusters in its European Union accession process.

In financial developments, the European Union finalized a fifth tranche of €1.4 billion generated from interest on frozen Russian Central Bank assets. The funds, collected during the first half of 2026, will be directed toward Ukraine's military capabilities and state budget.
