Tupac Shakur murder trial opens in Las Vegas nearly three decades after shooting

Opening statements have begun in the Las Vegas murder trial of Duane Davis, who is accused of orchestrating the 1996 drive-by shooting of rapper Tupac Shakur.
Opening statements have begun in a Las Vegas courtroom in the murder trial of Duane "Keffe D" Davis, who is accused of orchestrating the fatal September 1996 shooting of rapper Tupac Shakur.
Prosecutors argued that Davis acted as the "on-the-ground, on-site commander" of the drive-by attack, framing the killing as retaliation after his nephew was beaten by Shakur and rival associates earlier that evening. While Davis is not accused of firing the fatal shots, the state alleges he secured and distributed the weapon used from a Cadillac. Davis has pleaded not guilty to the murder charges. Shakur died six days after the shooting at age 25.
