Trump urges Ukraine and Russia to negotiate peace before winter

US President Donald Trump has expressed confidence that Russian President Vladimir Putin is seeking a peace settlement following a recent telephone conversation between the two leaders. Trump urged both Kyiv and Moscow to conclude an agreement to halt hostilities before the onset of winter.

The remarks came after a meeting between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, which the Ukrainian leader described as "positive and productive." Zelensky indicated that both Washington and Kyiv share the objective of stopping the conflict, expressing hope that peace could be achieved in the coming months.

Trump stressed that progress depends on mutual willingness to negotiate. "He wants a deal, and if Zelensky wants a deal, that would be great," Trump stated regarding his dialogue with Putin.
