Trump calls on Zelensky and Putin to reach peace deal before winter

US President Donald Trump has publicly urged Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin to negotiate an end to the war in Ukraine before winter. Speaking after a phone conversation with Putin, Trump stated he believes the Russian leader "wants a deal," adding that progress depends on both sides reaching an agreement.

The statements follow a meeting between Trump and Zelensky, which the Ukrainian leader described as "positive and productive." Zelensky noted that both Washington and Kyiv share the goal of stopping Russian aggression in the coming months. Despite the optimistic statements, neither side has released formal proposals outlining specific terms for potential negotiations.
