Trump urges Ukraine and Russia to reach peace deal before winter

US President Donald Trump has expressed confidence that Russian President Vladimir Putin desires a peace deal to end the war in Ukraine, following a recent telephone discussion between the two leaders. Speaking after talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Trump urged both Kyiv and Moscow to negotiate an agreement before the onset of winter.

Zelensky characterized his discussion with Trump as "positive and productive," stating that both the United States and Ukraine share the goal of stopping the conflict in the coming months. While Trump reiterated his belief that Putin is ready to negotiate, no specific details or formal terms for potential diplomatic talks have been made public by any of the involved parties.
