Trump urges Russia and Ukraine to reach peace deal before winter

US President Donald Trump has reiterated his call for Ukraine and Russia to negotiate a peace agreement prior to winter, following discussions with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin. Trump stated that he spoke with Putin by telephone and felt confident that the Russian leader genuinely seeks a settlement. Commenting on his dialogue with Zelensky, Trump noted that while they agree on various matters, his primary objective is for both sides to come to terms.

Zelensky described his interaction with Trump as "positive and productive," confirming that both Washington and Kyiv share the goal of concluding the conflict before winter sets in. Despite these statements, neither side has released concrete details or preconditions for potential negotiations.
