Thai teenage gunman kills family members and attacks school near Bangkok
Conflicting casualty reports emerge after a teenage student carried out a deadly shooting spree at a secondary school near Bangkok following an attack on his grandparents.
A teenage student opened fire at a secondary school in Nonthaburi province, north of Bangkok, on Friday, after allegedly killing his grandparents at home. Factual details surrounding the attack remain inconsistent across media and official reports.
Casualty figures vary between seven and eight fatalities, excluding the shooter. The dead include both teachers and students, while the number of injured ranges from 15 to 23 people, several of whom remain in critical condition. Authorities state the suspect carried out the assault using a nine-millimeter handgun taken from his grandfather.
While most reporting indicates the attacker died by suicide at the scene, conflicting police accounts cited by La Repubblica indicated he was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
