Political scholar Alpo Rusi has detailed Soviet intelligence pressure targeting Finnish political leaders, including Keijo Liinamaa, during the late 1970s and early 1980s.

Political science scholar Alpo Rusi has provided further details on Soviet intelligence operations targeting Finnish political figures during the late 1970s and early 1980s. In an analysis published by Iltalehti, Rusi examined covert pressure tactics applied during the political transition surrounding the end of President Urho Kekkonen's tenure.

The account highlights threats directed at Keijo Liinamaa, who served as Finland's national conciliator and prime minister, shortly before his death in 1980. Rusi noted that Soviet intelligence sought to influence internal political maneuvers and succession planning within Helsinki's establishment. Liinamaa had reportedly disclosed the intimidation efforts to associates, illustrating foreign interference in Finnish governance during the late Cold War era.
