Political scientist Alpo Rusi has published additional details on Soviet covert influence and threats targeting former Finnish Prime Minister Keijo Liinamaa during the Cold War.

Political scientist Alpo Rusi has detailed further historical context regarding Soviet covert pressure on former Finnish Prime Minister Keijo Liinamaa during the late 1970s and early 1980s. Writing in a guest column for Iltalehti, Rusi examined the methods utilized by Soviet intelligence to exert influence over Finnish domestic political maneuvering and the presidential transition during the declining years of President Urho Kekkonen.

Liinamaa, who served as prime minister of a caretaker government in 1975 and worked as national conciliator, reportedly faced severe threats from KGB agents prior to his sudden death in late 1980. Rusi's analysis highlights how Moscow's security services targeted key mediators and political figures to shape economic negotiations, labor relations, and leadership succession in Cold War Finland.
