Political scientist Alpo Rusi has outlined details regarding Soviet intelligence operations and coercive threats against former Finnish Prime Minister Keijo Liinamaa during the Cold War.

Political scientist Alpo Rusi has outlined further historical details regarding Soviet influence operations targeting Finnish political leaders during the late 1970s and early 1980s.

Writing in Iltalehti, Rusi examined covert actions by Soviet intelligence aimed at shaping domestic politics and influencing Finland's presidential succession. Central to the disclosures are coercive threats made against Keijo Liinamaa, a former Finnish prime minister and national conciliator, prior to his death in December 1980. Liinamaa reportedly revealed these pressures to a diplomat shortly before his passing, illustrating the extent of Soviet political interference during the era.
