Political scientist Alpo Rusi has outlined Soviet intelligence pressure and threats directed at former Finnish Prime Minister Keijo Liinamaa.

Political scientist Alpo Rusi has provided additional context on Soviet covert operations targeting former Finnish Prime Minister Keijo Liinamaa during the Cold War. In an article published by Iltalehti, Rusi detailed how Soviet intelligence exerted intense pressure and issued threats against Liinamaa, who also served as Finland's national conciliator.

The pressure occurred during the late 1970s and early 1980s as Moscow sought to manipulate Finnish domestic politics and influence the presidential succession following President Urho Kekkonen's era. Liinamaa, who headed a caretaker government in 1975 and mediated crucial labor conflicts, reportedly revealed these threats to a diplomat shortly before his death in December 1980. Rusi's account underlines the extent of KGB interference in Helsinki during a delicate geopolitical period.
