A study by international researchers suggests the Sardinian village of Bolotana could be a new longevity hotspot, with women three times more likely to reach 100 than the national average.

Researchers from the University of Sassari and the University of Illinois at Chicago have identified a potential new longevity hotspot in Sardinia. A study of Bolotana, a village of approximately 2,300 inhabitants in the province of Nuoro, indicates exceptionally high lifespans, particularly among women.

According to the findings, women in Bolotana are three times more likely to reach the age of 100 compared to the Italian national average. The village, known for its agricultural and textile traditions, could represent a newly recognized longevity region, often referred to as a Blue Zone.
