Russian strikes kill at least 17 across Ukraine as fighting intensifies in east

Overnight Russian missile and drone strikes targeting Kyiv and surrounding regions resulted in at least 17 deaths and dozens of injuries, local officials reported. The bombardment set off multiple fires across industrial and residential areas, with local authorities describing the assault as "one of the most tragic attacks so far."

Further casualties occurred across eastern and southern Ukraine, including Dnipropetrovsk, Odesa, Sumy, and Zaporizhzhia, following approximately 180 drone launches. In Dnipropetrovsk, five people died during nearly 60 individual attacks. A drone strike on a gas station near Kryvyi Rih killed three people, including an eight-year-old child.

Meanwhile, Russia's Ministry of Defense claimed its forces captured Vasyutinske and Toretsk in the Donetsk region. Ukrainian military leadership acknowledged intense combat along the front line without confirming the loss of either settlement.
