Russian strikes hit Ukrainian cities as internal political pressure grows in Kyiv

Russian air strikes continued across Ukraine overnight, causing extensive damage and casualties across several regions, including Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Zaporizhzhia. President Volodymyr Zelensky reported that coordinated missile and drone barrages struck residential areas and vital infrastructure, leaving dozens dead and wounded across northern and southern regions. Meanwhile, Russian air defences intercepted Ukrainian drones targeted at Moscow.

In Kyiv, domestic political friction intensified as dismissed defense minister Mykhailo Fedorov reiterated demands for Ukraine to re-establish electoral processes, arguing that democratic governance cannot remain suspended indefinitely during wartime. The calls coincide with ongoing anti-corruption operations targeting figures close to the administration and parliamentary proceedings to confirm Yevhenii Khmara as the new defense minister.
