Russian strikes caused extensive casualties across Ukraine as Kyiv faces internal political friction over anti-corruption probes and election demands.

Intensified Russian aerial bombardments struck several Ukrainian regions overnight, including Kyiv, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, and Odesa, damaging critical infrastructure and leaving over a dozen civilians dead and dozens wounded. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky pledged retaliation, while Russian authorities reported intercepting multiple Ukrainian drones over Moscow.

Simultaneously, political tensions in Kyiv are heightening. An anti-corruption investigation prompted searches at the residence of a senior presidential aide in connection with a money-laundering inquiry. Amid the fallout, former defense minister Mykhailo Fedorov called for wartime national elections, arguing that democracy cannot remain hostage to the conflict. Ukrainian lawmakers are also preparing to vote on appointing Yevhenii Khmara as the new defense minister.
