Russian drone strikes targeted Kyiv while Moscow declared a campaign against Ukraine's energy grid, as EU leaders warned Russia over an explosive drone plot in Germany.

Russian forces launched fresh overnight drone strikes against Kyiv, injuring at least one person and escalating targeted attacks following Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's address at the United Nations General Assembly. Concurrently, the Russian Ministry of Defense formally announced a campaign dedicated to destroying Ukraine's energy infrastructure.

In response, Ukrainian long-range drone strikes against Russian oil refineries disrupted domestic fuel supplies, forcing Moscow to import petroleum from foreign sources.

Security concerns expanded across Western Europe after German authorities linked two suspects behind an explosive drone plot in Leipzig directly to Moscow. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen issued a warning, stating that the bloc "will not tolerate attacks on EU soil" and remains prepared to respond.
