Thousands of counter-protesters blocked a restricted Orange Order parade on Garvaghy Road in Portadown following a Belfast High Court ruling.

Following a High Court ruling permitting a restricted 35-person Orange Order parade along Garvaghy Road in Portadown for the first time in nearly three decades, thousands of counter-protesters blocked the route on Sunday. The court mandated the silent procession take place between 08:00 and 09:30, but marchers were unable to depart from Drumcree Church due to the blockade.

As tensions escalated and political figures including First Minister Michelle O'Neill joined the counter-demonstration, police intervened to halt the march from advancing. Standoffs and discussions between organisers, authorities, and community leaders persisted in the area, historically a major Troubles flashpoint.
