Poland awards Saab €4.26 billion contract for three A26 submarines

Poland has signed a €4.26 billion contract with Swedish defense contractor Saab to purchase three A26 submarines under its Orka naval procurement program.
Poland has finalized a contract under its long-standing "Orka" procurement program, commissioning Swedish defense contractor Saab to manufacture three A26-type submarines. The deal carries a total value of approximately 47 billion Swedish kronor (around 4.26 billion euros).
In addition to the naval vessels, the procurement package encompasses comprehensive armament, training modules, and ongoing logistical support. The A26 design is simultaneously entering service with the Swedish Navy, where the platform is designated as the Blekinge class. The agreement marks a critical milestone in Warsaw's multi-year initiative to overhaul its naval forces and enhance underwater defense capabilities in the Baltic Sea region.
