Paramount Skydance delays Warner Bros. Discovery acquisition to 2027

Paramount Skydance has agreed to postpone its proposed acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery until June 1, 2027, or until a formal ruling is reached in an ongoing antitrust trial.

The delay follows significant legal opposition to the transaction, including lawsuits launched by a coalition of Democratic attorneys general representing 12 U.S. states. The Writers Guild of America, the union representing American screenwriters, has also mounted court challenges over market competition concerns. The companies will hold off on closing the deal while the regulatory and legal proceedings unfold.
